In most cases, each member of staff and student that has a CRSid has access to a Microsoft Office 365 licence whilst you are employed or studying with the University. Amongst other things, this provides you with access to:

  • Email
  • Word
  • Excel
  • Powerpoint
  • OneDrive

You can find out more about the suite of Office applications here.

Licencing

The Microsoft Office 365 licence allows you to use the suite of products that the University subscribes to, to allow you to carry out your work and studies. Thre are two levels of licencing in general use:

  • Full access: available to staff and students, giving access to all Office 365 products and allowing them to be downloaded to your laptop and on multiple devices.
  • Limited access: available to academic visitors, allowing access to Office365 via a browser, such as Google Chrom, Microsoft Edge and Firefox.

Once you leave the University, there is a grace period that allows you to move your emails and documents to a different provider.

Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA or 2FA)

The University has adopted the use of MFA to provide enhanced security to your information. This reduces the risk of your information being compromised by hackers. You can get more details on MFA here.
